Now that Pat Tillman's story is out, maybe Ms Johnson's family will be 'honored' w/ the truth as well.

Not to mention the cost of the flowers..

When a Bosnian man faked his own death, the joke was on him - the only person who attended the funeral was his mom.
Amir Vehabovic, 45, pulled the stunt to see how many people would show up for his last rites.
Vehabovic, who was hiding in nearby bushes during the ceremony, later sent an angry letter to 45 people he thought disrespected him by their absences.
"I paid a lot of money to get a fake death certificate and bribe undertakers to deliver an empty coffin," he wrote. "I really thought a lot more of you, my so-called friends, would turn up to pay their last respects."

Not even kudos for his long-suffering ma?

Side Effects of the war..

I was reading this sad story..
http://www.alternet.org/waroniraq/48788/
and re-living my own experience from the 1st Gulf War, back in '93.
I lost my husband to that war.. yes, he came back alive, but he brought the war home w/ him. He even built a 'shrine' to it in the living room. Memorabilia adorned a wall, so we could never forget his exploits there, which also included several affairs.
In fact, he was prepared to ride into the sunset w/ one married officer.. but she changed her mind when she saw her family again upon their arrival home.

This is part of that 'collateral damage' that the Shrub talks about. We will never know the cases of domestic abuse that goes unreported, to save an officers career. Or the women who decide to live w/ the damaged-goods and suffer in silence. These are statistics far greater than anything you will ever read or hear about in the media.
God help them all..
and lest we forget..

These folks are going to drive me to Veggies!

From 'Slade' this morning..
~~~
"The FDA is fixin' to approve the extremely potent drug cefquinome for use on cattle--a step that risks creating diseases that are resistant to medicine's most powerful antibiotics. Thirteen health groups, including the AMA, plus the FDA advisory board say the decision is needlessly dangerous. But the FDA is following a new "guidance document" telling it to weigh public health concerns against pharma concerns less strongly than it has in the past"
~~~
If we can't kill ourselves w/ enviornmental concerns, the Feds will do it thru their pharmaceutical buddies.
Broccoli, anyone?

And more crapola..

What have we created??

http://www.alternet.org/waroniraq/48601/

I am currently reading the book, 'From Baghdad, With Love' about a Marine's rescue of a hapless pup. And it's full of warm fuzzies (however illegal), but it's the underlying story that brings a chill of horror to me.
The Lt Col explains how 'killings' have changed over the course of time. That during WWII, only 15% of the soldiers ever fired their guns.. because they had compassion for their fellow man. The Marines decided to train them harder to shoot 1st, & think later.
Vietnam was a partial success for that training. The soldiers killed any & everything, but came home mentally wounded; most for a lifetime.
How to get past that pesky post-traumatic-stress-syndrome? They began training w/ video games.. making the kills 'fun', & not at all attached to real life.
Therefore, no residual guilt for the most part.
This war has become robotic for a lot of soldiers.
The Lt Col spoke of how nothing seemed important when he'd get home from a tour of Iraq.. so he went back 3 times. Killing was his buzz.. & he couldn't get that on the streets in the US. Granted, he regains a little of his humanity when he finds the pup to rescue. (against the rules of the Marines).. but how many soldiers are getting the 'cute puppy therapy' ??
Too many men & women are coming back damaged beyond all physical/mental constraints.. & the saddest part of all, is the fact that they may not even be aware of their illness.
The Marine corp has trained them to think it's all a 'game'.. get over it. Hoo-ruh.

About freakin' time..

Yahoo! Alerts

Thursday, March 1, 2007, 10:55 AM PST
WASHINGTON (AP) The Army general in charge of Walter Reed Army Medical Center has been relieved of command in connection with disclosures about inadequate treatment of wounded soldiers.

This crap has gone on for decades. The cover-up has finally ended. (or else has simply begun..) But anyway..
Hurray for that 'liberal' media!
