And this today:

Dems Face Sharp Questions On Gay Rights
Frontrunners Challenged On Reluctance To Embrace Same-Sex Marriage
2008 Presidential HopefulsA glimpse at the Democrats and Republicans who have an eye on the White House.

(AP) Democratic presidential contenders sought to underscore their differences with Republicans on gay and lesbian rights, but leading candidates also faced sharp questions on their reluctance to embrace marriage for same-sex couples. In a forum Thursday night focusing on gay issues sponsored by a gay-rights organization and aired on a gay-oriented cable channel, Sen. Barack Obama argued that civil unions for same-sex couples wouldn't be a "lesser thing" than marriage. He disputed that his position on same-sex marriage made him a vestige of the past rather than an agent of change. Obama belongs to the United Church of Christ, which supports gay marriage, but Obama has yet to go that far. "If we have a situation in which civil unions are fully enforced, are widely recognized, people have civil rights under the law, then my sense is that's enormous progress," Obama said.
New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson said the nation was on "a path to full inclusion" but added, "In my judgment, what is achievable is civil unions with full marriage rights."
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton echoed support for civil unions. "I will be a president who will fight for you," she said.
Comments:
I have no idea who my choice for prez is. I like that Obama seems to be honest, even when it's not what the crowds want to hear (speaking in Detroit about fuel efficient vehicles, etc). I think that's refreshing and a glorious chance from the same ol' same ol' from modern politicians.

But Hillary's experience and poise rocks! And, in long-term success, Hillary may be a better choice for lefties. She's a centrist (although the Right paints her as a socialist) who can bring gradual change to the left...gradual would ensure more and more Democrats in office. If - although I agree 100% with them - someone too far left is elected, will it shock the masses into bringing back the Right asap next election? Is that sort of manic swing healthy for the nation?

I have no idea.

Dare I say I might have to flip a coin come primaries? Ha.

watching the Dems capitulate so quickly in this past session of congress, I am depressed about them all.
Too bad we can't create a composite of the best in them & have a candidate that we could willingly back.
