About Me
- Name: sandegaye
- Location: Tellico Plains, Tennessee, United States
I am a spiritual being having a physical experience. I love delving into the inner world & learning all I can about why I'm here & where I'm going. My mother, now transitioned to another plane, was a Cherokee shaman. She taught me the meaning of 'Namaste'.. meaning 'I recognize the God in you', and 'Nokomis'.. meaning 'Walk in Beauty', a Navajo term, that tells us to walk in balance with all of earth. My father, also transitioned, was a fun-loving Irishman who taught me the joy of risktaking, traveling, & living life to its fullest. I have hopefully taken the best of their offerings in forming the 'me' I am today. I am the mother of six, grandmother of five, stepmother of 2 more & step-gram for 6 more. My cup is full & running over..;o) My goal is to live 'juicy'!

Through the years with music..
Age 7- It is 1955 and I am moved watching my teen-age sister JoEtta's frequent heartbreaks with her numerous boyfriends. I watch her sit at the table, sobbing to Sam Cooke's 'You Send Me'.. & I get a taste of how strongly music moves the soul. Everytime I hear this song, I feel her angst.
Age 14- It is 1962 and I am jazzed by anything by the Four Seasons. Even tho the Beatles are making waves around the world.. they don't move me as much as Frankie Valley's falsetto.
Age 15- I add this year because it was the year I got married. This song, 'Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying' was particularly appropo. The sun caught me crying quite frequently. It was also the year that 'Feelings' was popular.. lord help us.
Age21- It is 1969 & VietNam is either killing 1/2 of my generation of male friends & family, or else creating a psychiatrists/nightmare or wet dream of the remaining 50%.
I tended to try avoidance of the songs of the war era.. leaning heavily on bubble-gum music to lighten my mood. Hence, 'Fill Me Up Buttercup' made me smile during dark times.
Age 28- 1976, I'm in my 2nd yr of nursing school & discovering that my marriage rather stinks. Chicago's "If You Leave Me Now" has particular portend.
Age 35- 1983 & I am living my teenhood, at long last! I'm in the clubs w/ my new hubby about 5 nites out of 7. We go to the Bahamas about every 3 months, so of course Lionel Richie's 'All Night Long' still takes me to that magical time.
Age 42- 1990 and hubby is in the military, loving it way too much, looking forward to Gulf war I. He is cheating repeatedly & my soul hurts. I think of that time when I hear Marc Anthony, 'I Need to Know'.
Age 49- My heart breaks when Princess Di dies so tragically. Elton John's 'Candle in the Wind' reminds me of her wonder.
Age 56- I am married to the man of my dreams.. living the vida dolce. I frequently think about the family members gone on before.. wishing they could know this wonderful partner of mine. Luther Van Dross's 'Dance With My Father' reminds me of my mortality & how much I have enjoyed this ride..
Thanks for the idea Debra.. it was fun.

Random Facts about Moi
1) I do NOT know how to embed blogger's sites into my messages. Juliepoolie has tried remedially to teach me, & I throw up a mental block. So you will find Joe @ www.cupofjoepowell.blogspot.com and that's just the way it is, dammit!
2)Every morning, Diet Dr Pepper gets my motor running. It obviously has healing powers not listed on the ingredients panel. It is my deserved reward after cleaning out the catpan, emptying the dishwasher (yes, I washed my hands 1st).. and carrying out the trash. Forget fiber detox & cleansing; all one needs is Diet Dr Pepper. TMI? They can send my sponsorship check to Tellico Plains general delivery.
3) I 1st got married at 15. Kids, do not try this at home! It will just delay your teen angst until middle age.. and that sucks, Dude.
4) I am the only sibling in my gang of 8 bros & sisses who is over 5'7" & has green eyes, & was not named after an ancestor. All the rest look very Cherokee (& short). Was there something Mama forgot to tell me? Did she bond w/ the milkman? I may never know, on this earthly plane.
5) If I could do nothing but read good books all day, sitting out in the sun, sipping on a rum 'n coke.. I would have reached Nirvana & be transcended. Peace be w/ you..
6) Laugh if you must, but I am an ordained Metaphysical Minister. I have the power to marry & bury. But like the Fantastic Four, I try to use that power for good. (So I don't use it..)
7) I want to have Spiritual Retreats here in the lovely Cherokee Nat'l Forest, but my neighbors have 21 baying hunting dogs.. and so my mantra would include a lot of expletives not conducive to good meditation. Damn the hounds!
8) I wish I knew 8 bloggers to challenge w/ this fun thing, but I don't think 'Dooce' would take me seriously, & 'Rosie' would haiku it to kingdom come. So I'll pick a few, email them & see what happens.
Thanks Joe.
You go Rosie..
